(TRNS) – The U.S. Department of State issued a travel warning Monday, warning visitors attending the Sixth Annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from July 24-26.
The State Department explained that large public events such as GES, can become targets of terrorist activity.
State advised individuals to “maintain a high level of security awareness, and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive pertinent safety and security information.”
Obama, according to The Hill, voiced his excitement about the trip saying, “I’ll have the opportunity to meet some of the brilliant young entrepreneurs from across Africa and around the world,” hopefully, he added, “we’ll be able to announce new investments and commitments that will pay off for years to come.”
Obama is expected to travel to Nairobi,Kenya then on to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia July 23 – 28.
